SUMMARY:Healthy Aging Your Way - 2026 Falls Prevention Awareness and Screening Event
DESCRIPTION:Falls can affect nearly every aspect of life as we age\, but they don’t have to! Join the Portage County Healthy Aging Coalition this September to find local programs and services\, hear from guest expert speakers\, and participate in assessments aimed at reducing falls. Main activities include a resource fair\, a lunch and learn expert panel discussion\, demonstrations on what to do if a fall occurs\, and free screening services through UWSP Doctor of Physical Therapy program\, the UWSP Speech\, Language\, and Hearing Clinic\, and more. \nPlease note that registration is REQUIRED for ALL LUNCHES and screening services. Anyone aged 60 and older is able to eat on a donation basis. The suggested donation is $5.00 per person. Persons not eligible to eat on a donation are required to pay $12.00 per meal. No eligible participant will be denied a meal based on ability to contribute toward the cost of the meal. The registration deadline is Monday\, September 1st. Spaces do fill quickly\, so call to register as soon as possible if you are interested.
