What: Falls Prevention Program
Name: Ballroom Basics for Balance™
Where: Dane County
About: Ballroom Basics for Balance™ (BB4B) is a curriculum that encompasses classes for community members, trainings for teachers, and educational experiences, offering a fun way to practice balance and falls prevention through the basics of dance. Using the latest evidence and best practices, it draws upon a wide range of dance styles that speak to the culture of the students and instructors and uses the basic movements–paired with current science and with people at the center–to provide a way to help improve balance, postural stability, confidence and joy in movement, increased options for mobility, and deeper community.
Program Activities: BB4B is more than a class. It is an approach. We are inspired by a wide range of dance styles and use the basic movements, paired with current science and with people at the center, to provide a way to help improve balance, postural stability, confidence and joy in movement, increased options for mobility, and deeper community. We believe we have an innate human connection with music and rhythm that helps our brain and body connect with itself, and gives us endless expressive language for our personal growth
